Supercharged People
85There are people in the world today that can kill with lightening bolts from their fingers. The condition is rare and varies wildly in its severity but enough cases have been documented to make their existence indisputable.
Everybody can do it to a limited degree. On a warm, windy day, stand and shuffle your shoes briskly on an acrylic carpet – then touch a metal object. You’ll hear, feel and may even see a spark.
For reasons still unclear, certain individuals can store not only sparks, but also large amounts of electricity in their bodies, discharging it with consequences ranging from humorous to extremely dangerous.
Sally Wallbank of Lancashire in the UK, can power a light bulb with her hands. But she’d gladly give up her amusing party trick to be rid of a condition which has:
♦ Blown the motors in six washing machines and five vacuum cleaners.
♦ Wiped her mortgage record from the bank’s computer when she went to complain about their fees.
♦ Caused a cash register to charge two-thousand-dollars for a lettuce.
♦ Stopped every car she has travelled in due to electrical systems failure.
♦ Caused both her husband and herself to scream in pain as they were severely zapped while making love.
Sally’s condition gets worse when she is annoyed – or aroused. Soaking her hands in water brings some relief.
It is also possible this ability is related to human magnetism as static electricity in the body has been known to stop watches - see my hub on Magnetic Personalities
♦ Two sisters in the UK glow and discharge lightening the size and shape of tennis balls whenever they sit together. They also enjoy shooting their younger sister – who doesn’t have the same ability - with lightening balls.
♦ Pauline Shaw in London has destroyed every appliance in her house – but her specialty is light-bulbs. Whenever she walks beneath one – be it on or off – it instantly explodes.
♦ And in 1980, at the age of twenty-two, Cheshire woman Jacqueline Priestman, suddenly noticed she was changing the channels on her TV set without touching it. Sparks would leap from electrical sockets when she went to use them and walking outdoors became fraught with peril. Whenever Jacqueline touched something made of metal, she’d get an electric shock.
By 1984, Jacqueline had wrecked more than twenty-four vacuum cleaners and local service-men were refusing to visit her home.
Dr. Michael Shallis, an Oxford University scientist who studied Jacqueline, discovered she had more than ten-times the normal level of static electricity bottled up inside her – and it was actually capable of transmitting small lightening bolts.
Curiously, Jacqueline’s problems were solved by a change of diet. As soon as she began to eat large quantities of green vegetables, the effects of her supercharged condition drained away.
There have been no recorded instances of electrically-charged people killing others – but it isn’t hard to imagine it occurring. Young children or the elderly – especially those fitted with pacemakers – could be vulnerable.
Electrically-charged people have also been cited as a possible factor in the mystery of spontaneous human combustion – see my hub on human combustion.
Little research into this bizarre condition has been conducted. Presently, it’s not even known why women are affected more than men.
It appears main stream scientists shy away from the subject because of the supernatural element and its implications.
But if you look at the way electricity is naturally used by animals other than man – the electric eel for example – the real explanation might be quite simple; perhaps even rational enough for the most conservative academic.

I love your hubs! So many things I have never heard of before. I grew up getting shocked by all sorts of things, but never blew anything up. Now I touch something metal before touching the computer, in order not to ruin it.
Static electricity is thought to be the cause of fuel igniting when people are filling up their cars, which happens to women more often than men. They think it is the nylon underwear. :P
Wow. You know, this is going to sound weird, but I've had a problem with something along these lines for years--I 'fry' small appliances. Go through coffee maker after coffee maker, can't have a hair dryer, blow out light bulbs, etc. Plus I crave dark green leafy things--kale, spinach, collards, chard--and bitter veggies like broccolini and brussels sprouts. I think maybe you just solved a mystery for me. Weird though. Thanks! You have a new fan here. :)
Pam, I knew you were hot and sparky. I've had the static build-up but nothing to this extent. I have seen people blow light bulbs particularly when doing allot of spiritual practices - I think it's part of what's generated energetically. Fascinating.
Fantastic hub ! I am grateful I am not a conduit as some of these cases of people you mention about, as the thought seems scary enough ! I am a confirmed clairvoyant and although that is not always a blessing, I feel more connected to strange and unusual than the average person might . . . Thank you for sharing !
sharing the light, Miss Erica Hidvegi, the Enlightenment Advisor
Wow! this is so scary. I'd certainly stay away from Filling Stations (Petrol for the Brits) if it were me. And I hope I never run into any of them, I have an implanted device myself. great read Mark.
LOL Yip. me too. hehe
Mark, I think I would like for Sally to visit my financial aid advisor...just found out about what my student fees were going to be for the last semester and I think the computer may need to 'recalculate' the charges! Nice one, Mark. I will be stopping by again soon.
*hugs* that would be just fine.
this is an interesting hub. I go through light bulbs and coffee makers rather quickly but I tend to assign that to poor american manufacturing. :p I think some people do carry extraordinary psychic energy however in the form of charisma and I wonder about the connection between that and this. wouldn't it be interesting if there was a link?
no worries, mate. I can see I shall have to delve more into your hubs. you're an interesting writer.
Very interesting Hub!
So funny but scary facts... It happens to me sometimes when I touch a metal... well-written hub.
Another highly original, well written and very interesting article. Thanks. I enjoyed it very much.
I was reading this hub with my eyes open in wide eyed wonder- as I had not heard of the extreme cases. I like most people have experienced static electricity but as a child. I remember that during cold weather, if I touched certain objects it would give me an electrical charge and it was not comfortable. Wow, I had forgotten about this.
I am sharing your hub with a Yahoo forum I have.
Thumbs up!
WOW! I follwed Violet here and I'm just as wide eyed as she is! :-) I have experienced the small charge type, who hasn't, but by flippin' gob, to fry appliances and stop cars? Guess everyone better keep these people happy and not stressed out!! Laugh! Incredible!
Glad to see you followed me, Elena, LOL! Just shared the hub in my forum and already had open mouth and wide eyed reactions!
I am also more charged than most people!! I have literally blown up a kettle, get shocks when i touch all kinds of things in shops etc, and lots of other electrifying and other incidents that have caused things to completely crash, break and catch fire!! I am also very unlucky which does not help!
hi,just read ur article and now i at least feel relieved that i am not the only one suffering from it. Around five years back in india its rarely cold where i stay , i tried to touch my five yr old son and all of a sudden my finger gave a rude electric current to my son accompanied by a large electrical circuit noise. I felt too embarassed at that moment . No wonder lights stop working, my electrical appliances burn, oh now i realise my situation and have to be careful.
Great and fascinating hub. I have no similar stories of this type to share, but wanted to say I enjoyed reading the posts and everyone's comments thereafter. Thanks for sharing!
Since as you said each one of us can "create" static electricity than is perfectly plausible that there are different degrees of electricity produced. There will be some who produce nothing and some who produce a lot. A kind of natural super powers. Very good interesting hub. And full of facts. Very good.
my mom and i have this problem, her's is worse. she has to ground herself at work so she doesn't reboot her computer. we both have very static hair and zap people not purposely doing so. most of the times these zaps are painful and i will feel the pain for a few days.
Really fascinating hub, it's the first time I've really heard about this, very enjoyable to read this.
Interesting to know! Hope I never have that problem! It would be quite expensive I would think! lol
Thank you Mark for your Hub. It is a relief to find that i'm not alone. Parents always just said it was "electric personality". My wife doesn't let me kiss her till i ground out. Longest bolt so far was 4 or 6 inches. Those ones actually hurt. The short ones do too but it seems you get used to them. And yes, the whole light bulb and electrical appliances thing. Can't wear a watch or jewelry. What is weird, as much of an annoyance and a hazard, if i lost it, i would feel like some part of me was missing. It is part of what i am. I don't think it's anything paranormal, just a physical condition. It just needs to be invesigated. Thanks Again!
One cool side effect is butterflies.
All of you who share this condition? go outside during butterfly season. Interesting.
So many new things, I like to follow you and read the new posts.
Don't know if it has any relevance, but I've been hit with 110 volts many times. 240 a couple times, and 480v once when I fell out of a tree and caught a power line on my way down. Gotta love that 60 Hertz hum. Strange is that i never got burned. Never got hit directly by lightning that I know of, but I am attracted to it.
My dad melts metal watches and on digital watches the faces turn black. I always blow out the right side of my headphones. I listen my music at a very decent volume too. I drain laptop batteries really fast. After a while a 7 hour battery will go down to a 3 hour battery and I drain the batteries in anything I hold for a consistent amount of time.
I am FULL of electricity! I always have been. I shock everyone and myself all the time! Since I can remember, street lights go out, I blow small electrical equipment, I have even had a radio station come through my TV depending on where I stood in my apartment. My grandmother and mother are this way to a lesser degree also.
I once was in the grocery store pushing a grocery cart. The wheel was sqeeking as they often do, when I noticed, every time a would roll the cart, I would get shocked. It was enough of a shock that I could roll the cart any more. When I touch the feezers in the store I get zapped. It hurts all the way up to my shoulder. I cannot wear some makes of watches, I my body chemestry will break them. I had one jeweler after three watches, would not sell me another one. I have prayed for people and watched as they were healed. I give all the healing power to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I see sparks when I touch my car door.

I occasionally get static buildup on my body and have to make sure I touch metal frequently or avoid it long enough to lt the charge dissipate. Occasionally there will even be a spark.
Interesting cases though.
